“Rational design of photoacoustic imaging tools for in vivo applications”

Photoacoustic imaging is an emerging technology that has greatly expanded the molecular imaging field. Photoacoustic imaging has provided enhanced spatial resolution by using safe, non-ionizing light which can be used in a wide range of biomedical applications. Importantly, the combination of activity-based sensing and photoacoustic imaging has allowed for the development of probes that can be used to detect reactive species and metal ions such as nitric oxide, glutathione, and copper in live animal models.
