American Chemical Society (ACS) Council of Majors
This is UMBC’s American Chemical Society Chapter and the primary student led organization for undergraduate chemistry and biochemistry students at UMBC who wish to delve deeper into the exciting topics of chemistry and biochemistry. The ACS Chem/Biochem club as it is commonly known brings awareness of the importance of chemistry to the UMBC community and surrounding communities through outreach and exploration. In addition to regular meetings to engage the UMBC undergraduate community, we also perform outreach to the public from elementary schools through presentations at national and international conferences. In addition, we help students network with professional in the field through various panel discussions and workshops. Come join us at our regular meetings, all are welcome.

Chemistry Graduate Student Association (CGSA)
This is UMBC graduate student organization for chemistry and biochemistry M.S. and Ph.D. students. We hold monthly meetings for all departmental gradate students to serve as a forum on recent developments with the Department and graduate programs at UMBC. In addition to organizing departmental graduate students events, we are organize community outreach activities to demonstrate to the local community and beyond the advances in the chemical and biochemical sciences going on here at UMBC and beyond.

SPIE Student Chapter
This UMBC-wide official student chapter of SPIE, an international society of optical and photonics scientists and engineers. This interdisciplinary group of graduate and undergraduate scientists is interested in research and advances in the broad field of optics and photonics, including: spectroscopy, quantum computing, sensor materials, biomedical imaging, and more. The UMBC SPIE Student Chapter is the university affiliated chapter of the international SPIE organization that publishes peer-reviewed research and hosts conferences and workshops in the area of optics and photonics.

NOBCChE Student Chapter
This is the official student chapter of the National Organization of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE), a national non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the number of minorities in science, technology and engineering fields. As the official student chapter of NOBCChE at UMBC, we try to raise awareness of the advances chemists and chemical engineers make in the world and the need for more people of every background in these professions so we can make the world a better place through science, engineering and the associated technological advances that come from these fields.

SACNAS Student Chapter
This is the official student chapter of the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS), a national organization dedicated to increasing the representation and participation of chicanos/hispanics and native Americans in science. As the official student chapter of SACNAS at UMBC, we try to raise awareness of the advances scientists make in the world everyday and the need for more people of every background in these professions so we can continue to help society across the country and beyond.

Departmental Undergraduate Advisory Board
This group is a set of students elected by their peers to serve as a direct interface with leadership of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, meeting informally on a monthly basis to develop new ways to continuously improve the student experience at UMBC and with in the Department. Elections for the various board positions are run but the ACS Chem/Biochem club in the beginning of the Fall semester, with terms running for one year.
